The title, “Transfigurations” has many layers and meanings to me, a significant one has to do with a shift in my creative process. I’ve never been rigid when it comes to songwriting but I now notice that I had limitations that I hadn’t recognized. Most of these songs were written and recorded simultaneously. A practice in trying to enter into the present moment. I had little expectation of what would come next or what I might create. Before I knew it, the form that I had known or was used to didn’t matter anymore. A new form was creating itself. I didn’t take away the intention, instead I relaxed (tempered) my expectation. Transfigurations has been a practice of letting go and entering creatively into the present moment and the unknown.
